Documentary: “Rooted again”
This audiovisual project captures the history and dreams of various coastal wetlands in the Province of San Antonio, told by those who know their territories best: the elderly.
These capsules are part of the Environmental Hosts program: “Seeds for the Socio-Ecological Restoration of the Province of San Antonio,” through which we train 45 seniors from different communities in wetland conservation and enhancement.
This project consists of four audiovisual pieces, each showcasing a wetland or site of environmental importance to the province. It showcases the stories of the people who protect these environments.
Maipo River Wetland
In this capsule, we invite you to meet the Environmental Hosts of the Maipo River Wetland, a group of senior citizens from the Santo Domingo commune who, through their experience and love for the land, protect the Maipo River Wetland Nature Sanctuary, a key natural sanctuary for biodiversity.
Cordova Ravine
This audiovisual piece tells the story of a group of senior citizens from the El Tabo commune in the Valparaíso region who protect and value the Quebrada de Córdova.
Ojos de Mar Wetland
In this capsule, residents of Las Lagunas de Llolleo, in the commune of San Anotnio, share their deep connection with the Ojos de Mar Wetland, a valuable ecosystem they protect and defend against the threat of the imminent construction of the “Puerto Exteror” megaport project.
El Membrillo Wetland
In this capsule, we delve into the history of the El Membrillo Wetland in Algarrobo, guided by senior citizens who have lived their entire lives alongside this ecosystem and are now active advocates for its conservation.
These audiovisual pieces seek to connect environmental hosts with other stakeholders and organizations in the province. They also promote the socio-ecological heritage of San Antonio Province. This video is part of the “Environmental Hosts: Seeds for the Socio-Ecological Restoration of San Antonio Province” program, funded by the Valparaíso Regional Government.
