Each of these people’s testimonies reflects an intimate relationship with the environment, transmitting local knowledge and an intergenerational perspective on the value of these ecosystems.
The Cosmos Foundation launched the audiovisual series Memorias del Humedal (Wetland Memories), an initiative that highlights the deep connection between older adults and the ecosystems of the province of San Antonio through stories that capture the history, care, and daily relationship with these territories.
The capsules were developed as part of the “Environmental Hosts: Seeds for the Socio-Ecological Restoration of San Antonio Province” program, in which more than 45 seniors participated in a training process in conservation, ecological restoration, and natural heritage appreciation.
Each testimony—recorded in the Quebrada de Córdova (El Tabo), the Llolleo Lagoons (San Antonio), the El Membrillo Wetland (Algarrobo), and the Río Maipo Wetland (Santo Domingo)—demonstrates an intimate relationship with the environment, transmitting local knowledge and an intergenerational perspective on the value of wetlands.
The series invites us to recognize older adults as key players in the protection and enhancement of natural heritage, drawing on their experience, affection for the land, and living memory.
The capsules are available on the Cosmos Foundation YouTube channel.
